Unvented and Thermal Cylinder Heating Systems

Unvented Heating System Installations

Why an unvented heating system?

Not everyone wants a combi boiler. It’s not always suitable for the property or the customers requirements. Our Unvented heating systems use thermal store cylinders to store and manage the heat until its needed.

It is different form a conventional hot water cylinder as the stored water does not go directly to the taps. Instead it is passed through a plate heat exchanger, these transfer a lot of heat in a short space of time.

Thermal stores can provide space heating and mains pressure hot water or hot water only.

What is the difference between a vented and unvented heating system?

The main difference is that an unvented hot water cylinder takes its water supply directly from the mains. You can get hot water out of an unvented cylinder at a much better pressure than a traditional vented cylinder as it is pressurised.

An unvented hot water system has no cold-water feed tank. Instead it has an unvented or sealed hot water cylinder. This is fed directly from the cold-water mains and uses mains pressure. The unvented cylinder maintains a pressure from an incoming water supply.

What are the benefits?

Unvented cylinders can free up valuable space in your property as they don’t require a feeder water tank in the loft. They don’t function on gravity so the unvented heating system can be installed anywhere in your property. They also tend to offer stronger water pressure than in a traditional open vented system.

Other benefits include reduced noise as there is no water storage refilling. No risk of contamination as the unit is sealed and there is no water tank to freeze during the winter months.

The cylinder capacity varies between 90 and 400 litres so there is a size option to suit every home. Speak to us today to find out more about our Unvented Heating System Installations.
